Kitui East TVC is a newly established public institution founded under the TVET Act of 2013, with the mandate to promote hands-on skills development and contribute to Kenya's industrial growth. The college is strategically located 54 kilometers from Kitui town, in Zombe/Mwitika Sub-County, 1 kilometer from Zombe town.
The idea to establish the college was born out of a public participation initiative in 2017, where local residents submitted the proposal through their area Member of Parliament. This aligned with the government’s policy to set up a TVET institution in every constituency. The national government allocated a 20-hectare parcel of land through the Kitui East Constituency for the project, whose construction began in 2019. The college officially commenced operations in March 2023 after the posting of the first Principal by the Ministry of Education. It operates under a Board of Governors (BOG) appointed by the Cabinet Secretary, with mentorship from Wote Technical Training Institute, and it’s registered with KUCCPS for centralized student placement. The college currently boasts an enrollment of over 500 trainees. Administrative and trainee services are delivered through various departments, including Admissions, Examinations, Trainee Welfare, Guidance & Counseling, Industrial Attachment, Finance, Procurement, Games & Sports, and Career Services.
